Yuichi Nakamura Joins *Kagurabachi* Cast as Soshiro Azami
On October 2, 2026, the Manila Times reported that veteran performer Yuichi Nakamura has been cast as Soshiro Azami, a sorcerer tied to the Kamunabi. The announcement was paired with a fresh character illustration, a promotional trailer and a series of comments from Nakamura himself.
Kagurabachi, penned by Takeru Hokazono and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, has already moved more than 4.5 million copies, including digital sales. The adaptation is being produced by CyberAgent’s animation studio Cypic, known for titles such as Umamusume: Cinderella Gray. Director Tetsuya Takeuchi, who contributed to Sword Art Online II and Heavenly Delusion, oversees the project, with character design handled by Keigo Sasaki (Blue Exorcist, The Seven Deadly Sins).
The lead role of Chihiro Rokuhira is voiced by Taihi Kimura, recipient of the 2025 Seiyu Award for Best New Actor. The supporting cast features Tomokazu Seki as Kunishige Rokuhira, Katsuyuki Konishi as Togo Shiba, Miku Ito as Hinao and Miyari Nemoto as Char Kyonagi.
In his remarks, Nakamura described Soshiro as “serious, yet carries a bit of a dry demeanor,” noting that the character’s depth will become clearer as the story unfolds. He also praised the manga’s blend of action, world‑building and artistic style, summing the series’ vibe up as “Incandescent!”
The character illustration showcases Soshiro as a powerful sorcerer linked to the Kamunabi, wielding extraordinary strength that lets him overwhelm foes with devastating strikes. A teaser trailer is available in both English and Japanese, while the full series is slated to premiere in April 2027 on platforms such as Crunchyroll, MUSE and SMG Holdings.
Additional details can be found on the official website, X, TikTok and Instagram accounts, and the manga’s cumulative circulation continues to climb past the 4.5 million mark.
